Description of Lviv
Undeniably, there are many places in Ukraine that are worth visiting, but Lviv is the main centre of Polish culture there. It is also one of the oldest cities in eastern Europe.
Located in western Ukraine, at the border of Roztocze Lwowskie and Podolian Upland, it is a perfect place to spend both summer and winter holidays. What impresses all the tourists coming there is the perfect fusion of various European styles. Although the city was damaged during world wars, it is very well preserved. This is one of the reasons why it is included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.
The real highlight of Lviv are its historical buildings from up to the 13th century and stone sculptures of lions, the symbol of Lviv. It is said that there are over 2000 images of this animal in the city. While visiting Lviv, one must not forget about Lychakiv Cemetry. Situated on picturesque hills in the eastern part of the city, it is a burial place of famous artists and politicians. Calm during the day, Lviv becomes fully alive at night. Not only do Ukrainians love to spend time strolling down the streets of the Old Town and sipping chocolate in small coffee shops, but they also enjoy dancing tango in the moonlight.
Therefore, I am convinced that Lviv is a perfect place for those who want to feel the atmosphere of Middle East Europe or search traces of Polishness in Ukraine.
